Theatre Group

Theatre group organises days out to places of interest, theatre visits and extended breaks in the UK. The group’s fully organised trips are an excellent way to meet people with similar interests, especially for those who are alone.

The Theatre Group was formed over 30 years ago and the first show that was booked was at the NEC, Birmingham to see Torvill and Dean who were on a countrywide tour after winning the Gold Medal at the 1984 Olympics in Yugoslavia.

The first meeting was attended by 11 people, but our popularity has grown over the years and we now have over 220 members and are still growing. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30pm in Mere Green Centre, Sutton Coldfield (Adjacent to Sainsbury's Car Park) except during August. At the meeting we put forward suggestions for future shows and outings.

In the early days we visited theatres in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry and then ventured on our first weekend away which was to London. We visited a theatre on the Saturday afternoon, stayed in a hotel overnight and did some sightseeing before returning home.

The weekend away proved very successful and popular and gradually we have introduced other short breaks away and then took our first holiday in Scotland. Over the years we have added days out which are extremely well attended. Recently, theatre group trips have included visits to theatres at Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Kilworth House and Sonning with days out to Port Sunlight, Liverpool, Manchester, Stratford on Avon, a steam railway, Wolverhampton races and the Pudding Club. Short breaks have been made to Warners Hotels.

If you are interest in the theatre, days out and short holidays we could be just what you are looking for!
